Funkin - Heritage Cocktail Competition - June to July 2024


Promoter: Funkin Limited, Crossley Drive, Magna Park, Milton Keynes, England, MK17 8FL (“we, us, our”). 

Competition Period Opens: 09:00 on Monday 3 June 2024.

Competition Period Closes: 23.59 on Thursday 1 August 2024.

To enter: (i) visit https://funkincocktailstrade.co.uk/pages/heritage-competition-2024; (ii) insert details of your unique cocktail submission (see below) and personal information (name, date of birth, email address, contact number, Funkin Trade Hub account number, name of bar / employer) into the form; and (iii) press submit.

Eligibility: 

  1. This competition is open to all professional bartenders that are currently employed in a bar, restaurant, hotel or other establishment that sells alcoholic beverages under licence in the United Kingdom. 
  2. Entrants must be legal residents of the United Kingdom and are aged 18 years or over, except (i) our employees, (ii) our agents, (iii) anyone professionally connected with the competition, and (iv) the immediate family members of (i), (ii) and (iii).
  3. Internet access and a Funkin Trade Hub account is required. 
  4. Any entries received before or after the Competition Period will not be valid and will not be entered into this competition.  
  5. Maximum 1 entry per person is permitted during the Competition Period.

Entrance terms & conditions: 

  1. Details of each Entrant’s unique cocktail submission required to enter are: (i) unique cocktail name, (ii) unique cocktail concept, (iii) story of the unique cocktail, (iv) full ingredients list for your unique cocktail (including any homemade ingredients / garnishes / glassware, if any), (v) unique cocktail recipe details, (vi) details of the method to make your unique cocktail, and (viii) photograph of your unique cocktail.
  2. Each Entrant’s unique cocktail must contain at least one Funkin Cocktails Liqueur (35ml minimum). 
  3. Each Entrant must not name their unique cocktail a name that is rude, inappropriate or offensive. Any unique cocktails names that are considered to be rude, inappropriate or offensive by the Promoter, at their sole discretion, shall be disqualified. 
  4. All recipes must be original works created by the Entrant. In the event of suspicious activity, the Promoter reserves the right to request and gather information or obtain further evidence to confirm the legitimacy of the entry.
  5. The Entrant must have the legal rights in the intellectual property of both: (i) the recipe, and (ii) any photograph submitted by the Entrant as part of their entry. The Entrant grants an irrevocable, licence fee free, worldwide right to publish the Entrant’s cocktail recipe and photograph, at their sole and absolute discretion. 
  6. Entrants may be required to provide proof of age at any stage of the Competition by the Promoter. Valid forms of photo identification include: (i) UK driving licence, (ii) passport, or (iii) identification card bearing the PASS logo. 
  7. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry to the Competition at their sole discretion, including if, in their sole opinion, the Entrant’s conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the competition.

Finalist selection: 6 x Entrants shall be selected to attend the Final to determine the Winner of this competition. The Entrants shall be selected by a panel of 3 judges (including one independent professional bartender judge) from all valid entries received during the Competition Period. The judges will select based on the Criteria. 

Entrants selected for the Final shall be notified by email on 29 July 2024. Entrants who are emailed are required to confirm they accept their place in the final within 14 days. If the chosen Entrant does not respond within 5 days, the Promoter may appoint their spot to the next best Entrant using the same Criteria. The Promoter shall not be liable or responsible for the Entrant’s failure to respond, or any incorrect personal details submitted by the Entrant at the point of entry. The chosen Entrant is not entitled to any compensation in any form in place of their place in the Final.

If the chosen Entrant is unavailable on the Final date & time, the Promoter may appoint their spot to the next best Entrant using the same Criteria. The chosen Entrant is not entitled to any compensation in any form in place of their place in the Final.

The next best Entrant(s) may have less time to respond. If after approaching the next best Entrant(s) the Promoter has failed to get confirmation from the next best Entrant(s) on their availability to attend the Final, the Promoter shall not be obliged to approach any additional Entrants to take their place.

The panel of judges shall use their objective opinion to assess these criteria. The panel judge's opinion shall be final, and there shall be no right to appeal their decision.

Final date & time: Wednesday 28 August 2024 at 14:00

Final terms & conditions:

  1. The Promoter shall provide return standard class transport to and from the Final from any location within the UK. 
  2. Transport will be selected and booked by the Promoter at their sole discretion, based on cost and availability of viable transport options. Finalists may note their preferred method of transport, but the Promoter is not obliged to book the preferred method.    
  3. Once transport has been confirmed by the Promoter, or if the transport is cancelled by the Entrant, no changes are permitted. The Promoter shall not be liable for any additional costs incurred by the Entrant.
  4. Once transport has been booked, the Promoter shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations caused by (but not limited to) weather conditions, fire, flood, strikes, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, or any other circumstances beyond the control of the Promoter. 
  5. Qualifying entrants are responsible for ensuring that they are in possession of appropriate travel or similar insurance which they deem sufficient to cover the inherent risks of taking part in this competition, as well as to directly solve any loss or damage that may occur directly with the transportation and any other service providers.  
  6. The Promoter will have all the ingredients (excluding any homemade ingredients) available on the day of the Competition Final. If any of the ingredients are homemade the qualifying entrant will be required to bring these to use during the Competition Final. The Promoter will not be liable for the safe return of any glassware, equipment or product brought to the Competition Final by the qualifying entrant.  
  7. All expenses not explicitly set out in these terms and conditions will be the responsibility of the Finalist.  

Prizes: 3 x Winners during the Final. The Prizes shall be awarded on the date of the Final by the judges based on the Final Criteria. The Prizes available are: 

  • 1st Prize - 1 x £1,000 provided to the Winner via bank transfer.  
  • 2nd Prize - 1 x £300 dining experience in a city of their choice, including any service charges. The restaurant must be booked through the Promoter. Any additional spend by the Winner over the 2nd Prize is borne by the Winner. Subject to availability. Additional terms and conditions may apply at the time of booking at the discretion of the Promoter. 
  • 3rd Prize -  (i) 1 x £100 provided to the Winner via bank transfer, and (ii) 3 x 700ml Funkin Cocktails liqueurs (1 x Passion Fruit Liqueur, 1 x Triple Sec Liqueur, and 1 x Peach Liqueur). 
  • The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any Prize (or an individual aspect of a prize) for an alternative of equal or greater value where we deem it strictly necessary due to events outside their reasonable control. Winners may not transfer the right to accept their prize to another person without our consent. We will not offer cash alternatives to any prize. Prizes are not negotiable.

    The panel of judges shall use their objective opinion to assess these criteria in the Final. The panel judge's opinion shall be final, and there shall be no right to appeal their decision by the Finalist.

    The judges may, at their sole discretion, provide feedback to the Finalists based on their performance in the Final.

    The winners’ surnames and counties will be obtainable only by sending a stamped   addressed envelope request to: FAO: Senior Trade Marketing Manager - Funkin - Heritage Cocktail Competition   (June - July 2024), Crossley Drive, Magna Park, Milton Keynes, England, MK17 8FL, within 3 months of the competition closing date. If you wish to object to your surname and county of residence being made available, or request that we reduce the amount of information being made available, you must notify us either at the time you enter the competition or when we contact you about your prize. Please note that, even if you do raise such an objection or request, we may still provide this information to the Advertising Standards Authority or other regulatory bodies if they request it. If your details change during this competition, it is your responsibility to notify us otherwise you may miss out on a prize.

    The judges names will be obtainable only by sending a stamped addressed envelope request to FAO: Senior Trade Marketing Manager - Funkin - Heritage Cocktail Competition   (June - July 2024), Crossley Drive, Magna Park, Milton Keynes, England, MK17 8FL, within 1 month of the competition closing date.  

    These competition terms are governed by English law and their interpretation will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of English and Wales.
