In a celebration of mixology mastery, the Funkin Heritage Competition took place on the 26th of September 2023, culminating in a night where the finest bartenders showcased their skills in reviving classic drinks with a modern twist using our brand new Funkin Liqueur Peach, Passion Fruit and/or Triple sec. After a rigorous selection process, five finalists emerged, each ready to dazzle with their innovative concoctions.
The Finalists
After an intense showdown, the top three bartenders claimed their well-deserved spots. Jelena Bulatovskaja, representing Sexy Fish Bar, clinched the third position with her creation: "Wines of Paradise." Carlos Garcia Picon, from Lusin Mayfair Bar, secured the second spot with his tantalizing concoction, named "Funkin Pornstar." However, stealing the limelight and claiming the first position was David Antunes, from Be At One, with his winning cocktail, "Aguas Claras."
"Wines of Paradise" by Jelena Bulatovskaja
Jelena's journey through time and taste brought her to the creation of "Wines of Paradise." This delightful drink seamlessly blended the elegance of Funkin Triple sec and Peach liqueur with a brown butter Rum & fresh lime Milk Punch. An addition of coconut water and cardamom drops to conclude the drinks crafted with precision, and it left an indelible mark on the taste buds, earning Jelena the admiration of all three judges and spectators alike.
"Funkin Pornstar" by Carlos Garcia Picon:
Taking inspiration from the iconic Pornstar Martini, Carlos reimagined the classic with a funkin twist, using our Passion Fruit and Peach Liqueur. His drink, "Funkin Pornstar," was a symphony of flavours that showcased his expertise in modern mixology, clarifying the classic cocktail with some secret ingredients and adding some Cocchi americano alongside some Armenian sparkling wine. Carlos transported the crowd through time, offering a revitalized taste of the past with every sip.
"Aguas Claras" by David Antunes
David Antunes, the crowned champion, took mixology to new heights with his winning creation, "Aguas Claras" using our Passion Fruit liqueur with some Patron and Bruxo tequila. Blending it with some acid solution and some agave, to finish it with 2 dashes of vanilla bitter. Representing Be At One, David seamlessly merged traditional inspiration with contemporary techniques, creating a drink that stood out as a testament to the evolution of mixology.
